A Commentary

Abstract

The insurance industry in India has instituted a dispute resolution mechanism called the Offices of the Insurance Ombudsmen.   This mechanism, facilitated by the insurance industry is functioning for the past two decades receiving and disposing disputes relating to personal insurance contracts.  This article examines the framework, scope and performance of this institution.
